PLANNED PARENTHOOD (REBRAND)

The "Logo Design" project tasked me with redesigning the brand identity of Planned Parenthood to reflect a new direction while maintaining the organization's mission. My approach involved breaking down the existing brand to its core, functional elements and eliminating confusing icons for a minimalist and meaningful design. I chose to focus on the theme of genetics, symbolizing the science of human biology through the use of a RNA primer and DNA Polymerase icon in the logo, which cleverly integrates into the typography of "Planned" and "Parenthood."

For the color scheme, I selected cyan to represent clarity of thought and communication, and maroon for compassion and emotional balance, supporting the organization's mission. The typography was modernized with a clean, engaging Sans Serif font, with "Planned" highlighted to emphasize planning in sexual health.

Marketing materials maintained a clean and symmetrical aesthetic, using cyan and maroon to create balance. I created a brand guide in a 3D format for a sleek yet interesting presentation. Reflecting on the project, I considered shifting away from the science theme to avoid potential controversy given the political sensitivity surrounding Planned Parenthood. The goal was to underscore that the organization offers more than abortion services—it also plays a crucial role in sexual education and preventive health care. The project was challenging due to the complex political and social dynamics involved.
